Google Desktop Search Plugin for FireFox [Date: 1/1/2005] Portfolio
Google Desktop is a great utility for searching file and content on your local hard drive. To simplify the use of Google Desktop, I've written a search plugin for FireFox. This plugin is different because Google Desktop search uses a unique ID for each computer. So it's impossible to write a single plugin that will work on every computer. Instead, a plugin has to be generated specifically for your computer using your Google Desktop ID.

To find your ID:
Just download and run my GetId Tool.

OR

Open google.com in a new Firefox window. Click the desktop link above the search box, and click the Search Desktop button but make sure the search box is empty. This page will have a location that looks something like "http://127.0.0.1:4664/search&s=NumbersAndLetters?q=&btnG=Search+Desktop". The NumbersAndLetters are your Google Desktop ID, if you have that then you're ready to click the button below.

Please note: If you've already installed this plugin and are trying to re-install it, you may need to uninstall the previous version. For instuctions on uninstalling Firefox Search Plugins, please see my tutorial.

Here are a few search plugins I have created for FireFox. If there are sites you think should be added to this list, please post your suggestions in the comments section. I'll be creating more as I have time.

*Sigh* I just love this stuff :-)

Lights on the Water [Date: 12/6/2004] Portfolio
Here's a variation on my "Fire in the Key of Blue" desktop. Though I really like the big fire blurb on the right (or left on the Mac version), I really like the way it looks without it. So I'm releasing it as a separate desktop.

Hope you all enjoy!

FreeWare Rules the World [Date: 11/30/2004] Web/Tech
I love freeware. I live and die by freeware. Why? Because I'm a poor apartment dwelling developer who doesn't have two nickels to rub together. In fact, when I tell my boss about a cool new app that I found, the first words out of his mouth are "is it free?" :-)

So here's a list of my favorite freeware resources. Enjoy!

FireFox Portable [Date: 11/30/2004] Web/Tech
As many of you probably know, FireFox is a terrific, free, fast, and secure browser. I've been using it for some time now and havn't looked back (to Internet Explorer). John Haller has developed a version of FireFox that runs faster from portable devices such as USB-Drives. Check it out!
